Illuminating Your Workspace: Glowforge Aura Storage Solutions for Every Budget
Not to be dramatic, but I think I started nesting before my Glowforge Aura arrived. I completely reorganized and cleaned out my workshop for the first time since I had moved into my apartment. I got rid of a lot of items, even an entire desk! I really wanted to make sure that I had the perfect storage solution that made using my new Aura easy, safe, and convenient! Some top things that I was keeping in mind were cost, ease of movement (more on that later) and convenience. I knew that if I made the storage inconvenient, I would be less likely to use my Aura and I did NOT want that to happen. I also had a friend (who owned an Aura) that even with the filter, she recommended good ventilation like a window or door outside. Luckily my workshop has a door to our roof but there wasn’t a clear solution as to how to position my new machine. After much research, it seemed that a rollable storage unit was the best solution for me. Regardless, during my research I came across many solutions at different price points so I figured this was a great opportunity to share!
Just a note that prices start around $165. I know that this may not be considered affordable to everyone. Please let me know if you find a cheaper solution! Jump to the summary chart.
A lot of these storage options also work if you decide to upgrade to a pro glowforge. If you think you may down the line, it’s worth considering!
1. Habutway Workbench – $166
The Habutway Workbench was one of the first that I came across. I loved that it was sleek and could hold the Glowforge Pro if I ever decide to upgrade. Ultimately, I decided that storage and movability were more important factors for me. If those are not important to you, this is definitely one of the more affordable options!
2. Ikea Bror – $199
The Ikea Bror was another option that was more affordable that most of the alternatives that I found. I loved that it is movable and had some storage. It is not big enough to house the Glowforge Pro.
3. Ikea Alex – $200
I think this is the most common recommendation that I found and I totally understand why! The Alex is on casters which allows it to move around your room for better ventilation and storage. The drawers are also a great solution for storing your Aura materials. I also recommend checking out facebook marketplace as I have often seen people reselling these for a steal! The Alex is just a smidge smaller than the Aura’s depth but it is large enough to support it. It also comes in a beautiful blue/grey color that I thought would look great in my workshop.
4. Seville Workbench – $233
What is great about this workbench is that it is movable and will fit the Glowforge Pro. There are only two drawers so it may be a better option for people not looking for storage.
5. Gladiator Workbench – $449
The Gladiator workbench is a heftier option. If a shelf would be a better storage option that drawers, this may be the right choice for you. The Glowforge Pro may hang off the edges just a smidge, but I think it should be fine. It’s also movable!
6. Husky Workbench – $518
While this option is a bit of an investment, I have only heard GREAT things about Husky Workbenches. There is AMPLE storage, it’s movable AND it will support the Glowforge Pro. I hope to own one someday!
7. Dreambox 2 – $2,599+
I almost hate to mention the Dreambox 2 1. because I do not own one 2. it’s out of range for a lot of us. That being said, if it is within range for you, the Dreambox 2 could be an amazing option for you. The Aura fits conveniently on the table (not when the Dreambox is closed though). Depending on your space, this could be an amazing option for you. Let me know if you get one. I am so jealous!!
