What is a book nook?
A book nook is a miniature diorama, typically intended to be displayed on a bookshelf amongst your books. Book nooks often depict scenes from fictional worlds but they can be truly anything! Whether it’s a mystical library, a fairy garden or a childhood bedroom, book nooks are a wonderful medium to bring a touch of magic to your space.
When making my own book nooks, I love to draw inspiration for the worlds that inspired me to dream as a child. I love reconnecting with the wonder and fantasy that I easily embraced when I was little. When I create a piece, I feel like I have my own little slice of magic sitting on my shelf.
Book Nook Resources
Reddit has a wonderful subreddit dedicated to book nooks. In recent years, it has started to focus more on book nook kits rather than custom book nooks. Regardless, I think it’s a great place to connect with other book nook enthusiasts and get inspired. It’s one of my go-to resources.

There are a few Facebook groups dedicated to book nooks. My favorite is Book Nook Shelf Dioramas. There are some incredibly talented artists in this group! I’ve gotten many ideas and even some help from other members.
